Focused on emotional regulation, our Residential Treatment Center for women provides primary psychiatric and mental health treatment for a wide range of symptoms and disorders. The Center specializes in treating women who have struggled to improve in outpatient therapy, psychiatric hospital settings, or have been unresponsive to psychiatric medications.
Our premiere residential treatment center is the only one of its kind on the West Coast. We treat only six women at one time, enabling us to individualize our treatment program to meet the specific needs of each patient.
We focus on the emotional struggles of women and assist them in developing emotional strength and more effective coping strategies for life’s challenges. Women emerge from our program with a sense of renewed hope, self confidence, and a proactive plan for living.

NON-HOSPITAL BASED SETTING
Women admitting to The Center often have histories of psychiatric hospitalizations that they have experienced as cold or impersonal, or have been hospitalized with patients who have much more severe conditions. At times, this situation has led to further distress or decomposition. At Clearview Women’s Center, we strive to make each women’s stay as comfortable, therapeutic, and nurturing as possible.
RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT CENTER LOCATION
Our Residential Treatment Center is located in Venice Beach, California. Near Los Angeles and just one mile from the Pacific Ocean, our program is housed in a beautiful 3700 square foot home in a quiet upscale neighborhood. Our private gourmet chef prepares meals tailored to the dietary and nutritional needs of our residents as needed. Clearview Women’s Center is licensed by the State of California.
Women entering our residential treatment center have the opportunity to heal in a safe, supportive, nurturing environment for women. Treatment takes place, on-site, in the comfort of the residential treatment center. Providing treatment on-site, at our licensed facility, enables us to provide therapeutic intervention round the clock, on a moment to moment basis.
ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS
Women entering our residential treatment center often have past histories of unsuccessful inpatient or outpatient treatment. Often, there has been diagnostic uncertainty, confusion, or questions about diagnosis. Many of our patients and their family members are left feeling frustrated and unsure as to the nature of the problem.
At Clearview, we strive to understand what is at the root of our patient’s condition. Accurate assessment and a thorough understanding of the problem are critical to ensuring positive treatment outcomes. We conduct a thorough assessment with each woman entering our residential treatment center and then work to design an individualized treatment plan.
A variety of assessments are utilized to understand the needs of the patient including a psychiatric evaluation, bio-psychosocial assessment, nutritional assessment, and psychological testing. Current and past treatment providers and family members are contacted to gain a more complete picture of our patient’s diagnoses and level of functioning.
PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING
For patients that present unusually complicated diagnostic pictures, psychological testing is conducted to obtain insight and direction for treatment. Instruments utilized in the testing process may include the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2; Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III; Beck Depression Inventory; Beck Anxiety Inventory; Symptom Checklist-90; Rorschach, Thematic Apperception Test; among others.
THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
Clearview Women’s Residential Treatment Center utilizes the most current, evidenced based treatment modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Mentalization based interventions, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and psychodynamic therapy.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is highly structured therapy that teaches patients the skills needed to regulate their emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, increase impulse control, and decrease self-harmful behaviors.
DBT is a central component of our program. Clearview Women’s Center is one of the only residential treatment centers to incorporate DBT principles throughout its clinical program. All patients participate in four DBT groups per week facilitated by a licensed psychologist trained in the DBT model. Patients also receive individual sessions by a trained DBT therapist. Additionally, all staff members are educated in the DBT model to support patients and provide intervention on a 24-hour basis.
Patients also participate in a daily process group with the Clinical Director. Utilizing aspects of Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT), patients gain insight into their emotional struggles, and learn how to “think” about their emotional state and develop proactive solutions.
Many women admitted to the residential treatment center have a history of trauma, abuse, or neglect. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Somatic Experiencing (SE) are trauma based modalities that are utilized to help out patients address the symptoms of trauma and restore adaptive resolution. Our trauma specialist also conducts a weekly trauma group.
Patients with a history of an eating disorder or problematic relationship with food work with our registered dietitian and attend a weekly eating disorders group. Women who struggle with substance abuse or dependency attend a relapse prevention group and 12-step meetings in the local community.
Other modalities incorporated into each patient’s treatment plan include life coaching, art therapy, anger management, and off-site therapeutic and recreational outings.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Intensive individual psychotherapy is a core component at our residential treatment center. Each patient receives three to five individual therapy sessions per week with Ph.D. and Master’s level psychotherapists. Clearview therapists utilize both psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral strategies while helping patients to reinforce their DBT skills.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Somatic Experiencing (SE) are utilized to address trauma symptoms and teach patients powerful tools on how to regulate their mood and central nervous systems.
HOLISTIC EMPHASIS
The Women’s Residential Treatment Center is committed to treating the whole person, incorporating treatment strategies for the mind and body. We offer a full range of traditional, complimentary, and experiential therapies.
Patients participate in yoga therapy twice per week and are transported to a local gym four days per week. Adjunctive services include therapeutic massage, acupuncture, and chiropractic care. Other modalities incorporated into each patient’s treatment plan include art therapy and off-site therapeutic pottery class. Proper diet and nutrition are emphasized to improve or restore overall physical and mental health. Our private chef prepares healthy gourmet meals with attention to each patient’s dietary needs.
Learning how to live a balanced life is also vital to the healing process. Our residential treatment center incorporates weekly recreational outings into its treatment program. Utilizing the natural beauty of the Southern California beach community and the attributes of our Los Angeles location, women go on beach walks or bike rides and attend museums and cultural activities.
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
Family involvement is emphasized throughout the treatment process. Family and/or couples therapy is interwoven into each patient’s treatment as needed. Regular phone updates are provided to the families on a weekly basis to keep them abreast of treatment progress and to involve them in discharge planning.
TRANSITIONING BACK INTO LIFE
The Life Coaching paradigm is utilized to help our women bridge the gap between treatment and independent life. Life coaching is a future oriented approach designed to help people realize a vision or purpose in their life. Specific, attainable action steps are then put in place to help them achieve their goals and desires with an emphasis on accountability.
As patients progress through the residential treatment process, they are encouraged to go on passes with family and friends and begin to test out their newly acquires skills in real life settings.
CONTINUING CARE
Research and our experience have shown that long-term treatment and therapeutic care produce optimal treatment outcomes. Prior to completion of our residential treatment center, a comprehensive continuing care plan is developed. Referring professionals and family members are encouraged to help in the development of the aftercare plan.
Clearview offers a full continuum of psychiatric and psychological care for patients completing our residential treatment center. Treatment program options include our Women’s Psychiatric Transitional Living, Intensive Day Treatment, and day and evening Outpatient Treatment. Offering over 20 groups per week and a variety of individual sessions, each patient’s treatment program is fully individualized from a full menu of individual sessions and groups.
Patients from out of state or out of the country are assisted by our National Outreach Director to find appropriate psychiatric and therapeutic resources in their local community.
