The Clearview Women’s Center staff is committed to providing the most innovative, effective treatment possible. MICHAEL ROY, MSW

Founder and Executive Director

Michael Roy received his Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree from the University of Southern California (USC) and has over 18 years of administrative, clinical, and management experience in the fields of mental health, dual diagnosis, and addictions. From 1990 to 1997, Michael worked as a clinician, administrator, educator, and Assistant Program Director for Gateways Beit T’Shuvah, a nationally known residential dual diagnosis treatment center. In this capacity, he was responsible for all aspects of the program and supervised the clinical and administrative staff. He provided group and individual counseling and created and facilitated the aftercare program.

From 1996 to 1998, Michael worked as a psychotherapist at the Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills and St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, providing clinical services to adults, adolescents, children, and families. He performed individual, couple, and family psychotherapy with clients from diverse backgrounds suffering from a wide range of psychiatric disorders.

During 1998, Michael worked with the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration, where he co-supervised treatment for a 150-bed treatment facility for mentally ill and drug addicted homeless veterans. He supervised the case management team, a 24-bed social model detoxification unit, and a 24-bed Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Program.

From 1999 to 2000, Michael worked at Promises Treatment Center, a nationally recognized chemical dependency treatment program. As Program Director, Michael oversaw all aspects of the clinical program, supervised numerous clinical and administrative staff, and oversaw three sober living homes.

In 2000, Michael founded Clearview Treatment Programs, a comprehensive mental health and dual diagnosis treatment center. Clearview Treatment Programs and Clearview Women’s Center provide a broad array of programs and are nationally recognized as leaders in the treatment of psychiatric disorders, personality disorders, and dual diagnosis treatment. Clearview offers a complete continuum of care including residential treatment programs, transitional living, day treatment, and intensive outpatient programs.

Michael has also worked in a private practice providing psychotherapy to clients with personality disorders, dual diagnosis, trauma related disorders, codependency, sexual addiction, and psychiatric disorders.

KATHERINE NIEMELA, RN, MN
Clinical Director

Katherine Niemela received her Masters of Nursing at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She has worked with Mental Health services for over 20 years in acute care, residential and outpatient settings. Katherine focused on postgraduate training in Gestalt Therapy and presently is a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis. Recent clinical interests include Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Mentalization-based treatment (MBT).

From 1983-1985, Katherine was a Registered Nurse at the Johns Hopkins Hospital working with medically ill adults. Starting in 1986, she began working at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital, with the acute care psychiatric services. Through 1993, she worked with nursing teams on the adult and adolescent units.

In 1994, Katherine began working in the outpatient setting, providing psychotherapy at Kaiser Inglewood, then for the UCLA Outpatient Clinic through 1997. She began her private practice in 1998, which is ongoing. Her practice has a psychoanalytic focus, working with adults suffering from early trauma and persistent symptoms of depression and anxiety.

In 2006, Katherine began working in a residential psychiatric treatment center as a primary psychotherapist. In 2007, she became the associate Clinical Director and in 2008, the Program Director. Katherine was responsible for program development, individual cases management, supervision of house staff, and supervision within the clinical team.

CORY CAMPBELL, M.D., PH.D.
Psychiatrist

Dr. Campbell completed her M.D. at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and her Ph.D. in Psychopharmacology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Campbell received her training in psychiatry at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute and is board certified in the practice of psychiatry.

Dr. Campbell has broad clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She worked at UCLA’s adult inpatient units and in the general adult outpatient clinics. While at UCLA, she also taught psychodynamic psychotherapy to psychiatry residents and treated the mentally ill forensic population with the Department of Mental Health.

Dr. Campbell has extensive research experience and completed a two-year research fellowship in substance dependence at UCLA. Her research involved investigating the effects of PCP-like agents on learning and memory and the effects of stress on relapse in amphetamine addicts. Currently, Dr. Campbell has a successful private practice in general adult psychiatry. She treats patients with primary mental health issues and dual diagnoses.

ROBERT WALDMAN, M.D.
Physician

Dr. Robert P. Waldman is a graduate with Distinction in Internal Medicine at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia. Dr. Waldman completed his internship and residency at Hahnemann University Hospital.

Afterward, he was appointed as Clinical Instructor of Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he served his Nephrology fellowship. He later moved to California where he became Co-Medical Director of the Recovery Unit at Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital in Marina del Rey.

Dr. Waldman belongs to the American Society of Nephrology and currently holds the appointment of Medical Director of the Hemodialysis Unit at RSG Inglewood. He holds hospital staff privileges at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Daniel Freemen Hospitals (Marina & Memorial), and Centinela Hospital, while also maintaining a successful private practice in Marina del Rey.

GAIL BRODSKY, PH.D.
DBT Specialist and Program Therapist

Dr. Brodsky received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2000 from Adelphi University, Long Island, NY. Dr. Brodsky is a trained Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) facilitator and was trained in all four models of DBT by Behavioral Tech, Marsha Linehan’s training institute.

Before she was employed as Director of Counseling Services at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, Dr. Brodsky worked in a variety of mental health settings providing a range of treatment modalities. After relocating to Los Angeles in 2007, Dr. Brodsky worked as Program Director at Bridges to Recovery, a residential psychiatric program. In addition to her administrative capacities, she provided individual, group and family therapy. Following her role as Program Director, Dr. Brodsky worked as a therapist in the outpatient clinic affiliated with Bridges to Recovery.

Dr. Brodsky also has a private practice in Los Angeles where she sees both young adults and adults. She is well-versed in the treatment of Personality, Adjustment, Depressive, and Anxiety Disorders.

CAROL HAYMAN, MFT
Clinical Supervisor

Carol Hayman received her M.A. from the California State University, Northridge in 1988. She has been in private practice since 1989 and specializes in chemical dependency, eating disorders, and personality disorders. Her practice includes work with individuals, couples, and families.

Carol began her career in 1987 working as a staff therapist at New Start, a drug-counseling clinic and at the same time was a staff therapist at the Airport Marina Counseling Center. In 1991, she worked at a psychiatric acute care unit at Doctor’s Hospital in Los Angeles as a lead therapist, as well as developing and implementing a discharge planning system.

Carol has extensive experience as a clinical supervisor and a special interest in community work. From 1995 to 1998, she was the clinical staff supervisor at Ocean Park Community Center in Santa Monica. From 1999 to present, she has been the clinical staff supervisor at A Place Called Home, a drop-in-center for at-risk youth in South Central Los Angeles.

JULIE DE SANTO, M.A., SEP
Trauma Therapist

Julie De Santo, IMFT, is a graduate of Antioch University with a Masters in psychology. She has completed three years of advanced training through the Foundation for Human Enrichment (FHE) and is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). Additionally, she is fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Somatic Experiencing (SE) and EMDR are both highly effective methods for treating the devastating effects of trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). By helping individuals to appropriately assimilate and adapt material that has been having a negative impact in their lives, clients learn to access the intrinsic healing powers of their own bodies and minds to achieve a sense of healing, balance, and resiliency.

Julie began her training at the Hollywood YMCA Counseling Center where she treated individuals and families from the surrounding neighborhoods. Through the YMCA, she also saw adolescents at Bancroft Middle School on a weekly basis, as well as providing therapy for at-risk youth through Bridges, a city-funded program designed to provide kids with support to improve social and academic functioning. Julie also treated young, single women and mothers who lived at the YMCA transitional housing program.

Julie is also involved in community trauma outreach programs. In 2008, she was part of a team of therapists hired by the Trauma Resource Institute (TRI) to train county mental healthcare professionals in the use of Somatic Experiencing to stabilize victims of the fires. She also helped many of the healthcare professionals with stabilization as well. Julie was also part of the first phase of an ongoing research project sponsored by FHE that was focused on developing a SE protocol for the treatment of veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Julie will be continuing to work to improve mental healthcare for veterans and their families through the Trauma Resource Institute. Julie has a private practice in Beverly Hills where she sees clients ranging from individual, adults, and couples to families with children having difficulties with emotional regulation, impulse control, and attention. Julie contributes much of her clients’ success to their willingness to learn about and use SE and EMDR in their daily lives.

MARGARET FETTING, PH.D, LCSW
Therapeutic Consultant

Margaret Fetting, Ph.D., L.C.S.W., completed her graduate training at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr Fetting has a private practice in Santa Monica, specializing in several areas, most notably substance abuse and personality disorders with adults. She is well regarded in the field, specifically recognized for her depth and breadth of knowledge and diversity of treatment approaches.

Dr Fetting is an Associate Adjunct Professor at the USC School of Social Work and is also on the faculty of Antioch University, Santa Barbara. In addition, Dr Fetting has designed and taught hundreds of workshops throughout Central and Southern California for hospitals, social service departments, clinical organizations, children and family agencies, and large sponsored seminars and workshops.

Dr Fetting conducts pre and re-licensing workshops for several organizations including NASW. She also supervises clinicians in this field on a regular basis. Dr. Fetting has been on the staff of several hospitals and programs specializing in chemical dependence as well as eating disorders. Her experience in these areas spans over 14 years.

SAMANTHA WEBSTER, CCDC
Residential Manager

Samantha has worked in the fields of chemical dependency and mental health for the last 10 years. Beginning in 1999, she worked at Promises Residential Treatment Centers for over five years. During that time, she acted as the Alumni Coordinator for four years, working with alumni who had completed their in-patient programs to bridge the gap from treatment to their daily lives.

After Promises, Samantha worked with adolescents with mental health issues in Arizona as a Case Manager for two years. She worked in conjunction with Child Protective Services to support the families and the children who are in the government mental health systems.

Samantha received her CCDC in 2003 and completed UCLA’s CADDAC program in 2008. Currently, she is attending Antioch University to complete her bachelor’s in Liberal Arts with plans to complete the Clinical Psychology Master’s Program.

LYNN TUMPA, RD
Program Dietitian

Lynn is a registered dietitian and active member of the American Dietetic Association with more than 18 years of experience in nutrition counseling.

Her career began with an internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and has taken her to Santa Monica and Hollywood, California, where she currently practices.

In 2006, Lynn received her certification as a Kundalini yoga instructor from the world-renowned Golden Bridge Yoga Center in Hollywood, California. This experience has allowed Lynn to integrate meditation and yogic philosophies into her therapeutic nutrition practice.

The focus of Lynn’s work is to help men and women transform their relationships with food. She introduces her clients to the basics of intuitive eating by creating an individualized meal plan and monitoring levels of hunger and fullness. Lynn frequently accompanies clients to their local supermarkets and eateries, where she teaches them to make healthy choices and process thoughts and feelings surrounding their eating.

Lynn is a passionate and dynamic speaker who lectures on such topics as “Shifting Your Relationship with Food,” “The Differences Between Physical and Emotional Hunger,” and “Eating with the Seasons.”

LINDA LANDON, ACC
Life Coach

Linda Landon, ACC, is a certified business and life coach, speaker and trainer, who guides people in recovery to connect with their spiritual source so they can be authentic, intentional, powerful, successful, and happy.

Linda’s clients envision what they really want and design their lives to realize that vision. They are held accountable as they take do-able and authentic actions to make their dream a reality. When they feel stuck or overwhelmed, Linda guides them to shift from the inside out, so they can get back on track and continue to move forward. Relationships improve, energy increases and self-confidence replaces fear as they shift from being a victim to the creator of their lives.

An International Coach Federation Associate Credentialed Coach, Linda has been certified by the New Agreements Coach Training and Leadership Institute, trained by Crossroads Recovery Coaching, and mentored for four years by don Miguel Ruiz, author of the New York Times bestseller, The Four Agreements®. She is also a certified Speaking Circles® Facilitator. She also teaches people in recovery – and the professionals who treat them – how to use The Four Agreements to quiet the chatter in their mind so they can remain calm in any situation.

PAMELA GEORGETTE, M.A.
Art Therapist

Pamela Georgette received her Master’s Degree in 2005 from Phillips Graduate Institute in Marriage and Family Therapy and Art Therapy while specializing in Dual Diagnosis.  She has extensive experience with dually diagnosed clients and those affected by addiction.

Pamela began her career as a therapist at The California Family Counseling Center working largely with dually diagnosed clients and their loved ones.  During her graduate program, Pamela designed an art therapy group for recovering women who are survivors of sexual abuse.

After graduation Pamela spent more than 2 years living in Costa Rica improving her Spanish and learning cultural diversity first hand.  Pamela spent the last year working as a bilingual art therapist with families in the East Los Angeles area.  This intensive training ground has provided experience with crisis intervention and a range of mental health issues.

ELENI TSIKRIKAS
Yoga Instructor
Ayurvedic Specialist

Eleni began studying Yoga in 1995 in Sydney Australia and completed her initial training course in 1998 at the Sydney Yoga Center.

In 2001, Eleni was introduced to the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya, a renowned Yogic healer. Eleni offered group classes and private instruction at Yoga Sanga in Sydney and at St. John of God Hospital, a facility that treats patients suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

In 2004, Eleni moved to Los Angeles and continued her studies with Robert Birnberg, a renowned Yoga Therapist who specializes in Yoga and addictions. Her studies are deeply rooted in the Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali, the classical Vedic text which forms the basis of yoga philosophy.

Eleni complements her yoga with Ayurveda, a 5000 year old system of health based in nature which treats body, mind and spirit. She runs a busy Ayurvedic practice in Los Angeles, where she integrates Yoga’s tools with Ayurveda to create highly individualized, holistic healing programs for her clients.

Eleni is on the faculty at the Californian College of Ayurveda, (CCA) where she teaches in the Distance Learning program. Eleni also specializes in Yoga for addiction and compulsive disorders and teaches privately in Silver Lake, California.

RICK COONS, MA
Group Facilitator

In 2007, Mr. Coons received his masters in clinical psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles with an emphasis in LGBT psychology.  From there, he continued in the clinical psychology program at the California School of Professional Psychology and will soon receive his doctorate in clinical psychology with an emphasis in multicultural and community psychology.  Mr. Coons has worked as a therapist in several community health centers including AIDS Project Los Angeles, Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center, and the South Central Training Consortium providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy.

For several years, Mr. Coons has facilitated several support groups working with a variety of issues including living with HIV, domestic violence, sex & intimacy, and anger management.  He also works currently with dual-diagnosed clients at several residential treatment facilities and sober living facilities treating substance dependence and chronic mental illness throughout Los Angeles and Long Beach.    

Mr. Coons has a private practice in the Hollywood/Los Feliz area and has developed an expertise treating sexual identity issues, HIV/AIDS, domestic violence, sexual & physical abuse, relationship issues, anger management, addiction, depression, anxiety and stress.

JOANNE BARRON, MA, CADAC
National Outreach Director

Joanne has over 30 years of experience working in many capacities in the fields of substance abuse and mental health. She is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor, has a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, and is currently completing a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. 

Her early career experience includes teaching Addiction Counseling for PETA (Para-Professional Education and Training for Alcoholics and Addicts). Joanne was one of the first people in Los Angeles to teach addiction counseling. She helped to create the Teenage Alcoholism Program for the San Fernando Valley Council on Alcoholism, the first local program of its kind  for teens with alcohol or drug problems. She also helped to open two of the first inpatient hospital program in Los Angeles for adolescent substance abusers.

Joanne has worked as a substance abuse counselor, intake counselor, hot line supervisor and outreach director for several leading treatment centers. Additionally, Joanne is a trained Intervention Specialist, with training in both the Johnson Institute Model as well as the Family Systemic Model. Joanne is a frequent speaker at local public and private schools and has been a trainer to many organizations including the NBA, Los Angeles Police Department, and LAUSD.

Joanne continues to be interested in educating the community and health care professionals about drug and alcohol use. She a founding member of WAAT (Women’s Association for Addiction Treatment) and Co-founder of AYARN (Adolescent & Young Adult Resource Network).

GINA EWING, MA, D.Div., LISAC
National Outreach Coordinator

Gina Ewing received her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles and her Doctorate of Divinity from American Institute of Holistic Theology in Alabama. She is a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor and a member of the American Academy of Bereavement.

For the past 71/2 years Gina worked at Sierra Tucson as an Intake Coordinator, Continuing Care Coordinator and the past 3 years as Manager of the Intake Department. Prior to Sierra Tucson, she worked as a counselor at The Haven for Women in Tucson, Friends of the Family in Van Nuys and Tarzana Treatment Center.

She has personal and professional passion and energy for helping clients find their way to recovery from mental health issues and addiction.
