Social Anxiety Disorder Treatment

Social Anxiety Disorder TreatmentYou’d like to feel comfortable walking into a room full of strangers, picking up the phone to call somebody, or eating in a crowded space. But you can’t.

Instead, you are intensely afraid of being around people you don’t know, and of being humiliated or judged. This fear can result in physical symptoms such as a racing heartbeat, trembling, nausea, and difficulty talking. If you have become unbearably anxious about being around others, you may have developed Social Anxiety Disorder, or social phobia.

At Clearview Women’s Center, we can help you learn to get over your anxiety about being in social situations and feel more confident. Our intimate, women’s-only six-bed residential treatment center allows you to slowly become more confident in group settings while receiving the one-on-one support and treatment you need to manage your anxiety symptoms.

How We Treat Social Anxiety Disorder Treatment at Clearview

We understand how anxious and uncomfortable you may feel in a group environment. That is why our supportive team of experts, which includes licensed therapists, social workers, and contracted psychiatrists, will work to make you feel as comfortable as possible while helping you to address the root of your social phobia.

Treatment at our premier Social Anxiety Disorder treatment center involves individual and group therapy, and includes the following:

  • Three to five individual therapy sessions per week with Ph.D. and master’s-level therapists trained in the treatment of anxiety disorders, including Social Anxiety Disorder.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you change your negative thoughts and beliefs.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you become more aware of your behaviors, develop better distress tolerance, and improve emotional regulation skills.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Somatic Experiencing (SE) therapies to help bring down your levels of social anxiety and work through any underlying trauma.
  • Process groups that will allow you to change your anxious behaviors, learn to take risks, and develop strategies to help you better manage social situations.
  • Life coaching, which will help you move past your social anxiety and take steps toward your new goals.
  • Art therapy to help you identify thoughts and feeling and utilize the creative process therapeutically.
  • Building resilience group, which will help you to strengthen your emotional capacity and decrease your fears.

Upon admission to our residential treatment program, you will receive a thorough psychiatric evaluation to determine if anti-anxiety medication or other medications are necessary. Our psychiatrist will meet with you regularly to evaluate your response to medication and make adjustments as needed. You will also receive a comprehensive psychosocial assessment and treatment plan that will help alleviate your symptoms of Social Anxiety Disorder.

Our holistic approach to anxiety treatment includes yoga, exercise, and healthy diet and nutrition to treat the body as well as the mind. Therapeutic massage and acupuncture are available as needed. Our unique location 1 mile from the Pacific Ocean allows you to take advantage of the Los Angeles weather by participating in outdoor recreational activities and going on calming walks at the beach.

Social Anxiety Disorder often co-occurs with depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), substance abuse, Borderline Personality Disorder, and other anxiety disorders. Our experienced team can treat these co-occurring disorders at the same time for a more comprehensive recovery.
